Donald Trump Seeks Funding Boost for 2024 Presidential Campaign, Meets Elon Musk

top-news

Former President Donald Trump, aiming to bolster his presidential campaign finances, reportedly met with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in Florida over the weekend, as per a report by The New York Times. The meeting, which took place in Palm Beach on Sunday, included Trump, Musk, and several wealthy Republican donors, although specific attendees were not named.

Trump's objective in meeting Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as the owner-executive chairman of X (formerly Twitter), was to discuss potential fundraising efforts for his re-election campaign. Facing financial challenges due to legal battles, including a New York civil fraud case and a defamation trial, Trump is seeking substantial contributions to support his bid for the presidency in 2024.

With an estimated net worth of around $200 billion, Elon Musk's financial influence could significantly offset President Joe Biden's financial advantage in the upcoming 2024 general election campaign. While Musk has not confirmed any financial support for Trump, he has indicated his opposition to President Biden through social media posts, particularly criticizing the administration's immigration policies.

Despite his substantial wealth, Musk has maintained a politically independent stance and has previously made donations to both Democrats and Republicans. However, neither Musk nor Trump's campaign has responded to requests for comment regarding the meeting.
